Perfect set for repairing sling bags and outdoor seat cushions.

This set came with 3 very large spools of thicker thread and a set of 6 sewing needles of different length and thickness. i used the black string to sew up the sides of a sling bag. The zipper would open by itself constantly and my wallet and keys would fall out. I sewed over the zipper on both sides of the bag and now it will stay shut. The string is nice and thick, sturdy. Great product. Great value for the price listed.

This kit is the heavy-duty partner your upholstery projects have been waiting for.

I recently purchased this professional upholstery repair sewing thread kit, and I'm really impressed with the quality. The kit comes with seven sturdy needles designed for heavy materials like leather and canvas, plus seventy yards of thread in three different colors. The thread is made from premium one hundred percent nylon fiber with a deep wax coating, which makes it incredibly strong and smooth to work with. The four-ply tight twist design adds extra durability, so the thread holds up great even when handling tough fabrics. Whether I'm repairing upholstery, fixing bags, or working on quilting projects, this kit gives me everything I need. The needles and thread are both high quality, making my projects come together cleanly and securely every time.

Glossy, thick and strong

This thread is a good weight for decorative machine embroidery and edge finishes. It looks nice with a sheen. It’s thicker than the weight that is typically used on jeans topstitching, but will blend well for a shortening hem. The copper color in this kit matches several of my jeans, especially the Lee Riders mid and dark denims. It is definitely a good weight for coating and leathers. The needle set is comprehensive and of good quality too. It was a good value at $8 when I ordered.

Heavy duty thread that actually holds up

Picked this up to re-stitch a leather bag strap that had come apart at the seam and the nylon thread handled it without any fraying or snapping under tension. The waxed finish makes it glide through thick material smoothly — no knotting or tangling mid-stitch which is the most frustrating part of hand sewing heavy fabrics. The kit includes both straight and curved needles which is a thoughtful addition — the curved ones are especially useful for upholstery and tight spots where a straight needle just can't get the right angle. Three color spools cover most neutral repair needs and stitches came out tight and clean, holding firm through regular use since the repair.

Strong thread for heavy-duty repairs

I like having this kind of thread around for repairs where regular sewing thread just isn't going to hold up. It's thick, sturdy, and has a nice waxed coating that makes it easier to work with by hand without constantly fighting knots or fraying. The kit comes with several colors of thread and needles, so there's a good variety depending on what you're working on. This will be useful for things like leather, canvas, bags, shoes, or upholstery repairs. The thread feels strong and well made, and the braided construction gives it some extra durability. It's a handy little repair kit to have on hand, especially for projects that need something stronger than standard sewing thread. You get a lot for the price, too. With all the different colors and the needles, I think it's well worth it.

Great value!

Pros:Exceptional Value & Versatility: At $11.99, it offers a cost-effective, multi-use kit suitable for heavy-duty stitching, leatherwork, canvas, or structural crafting.Vibrant Thread Colors: Features rich shades—like a gorgeous, eye-catching brown—that add an aesthetic, high-end finish to visible stitching.Educational Packaging: The included needle backing card clearly labels each specialty needle and its specific application, making it easy to pick the right tool for the job.Cons:Braided Thread Unraveling: The braided construction can twist loose or fray at the ends while working, requiring a dab of adhesive or UV resin to lock knots and ends down.Large Needle Gauges: Heavy-duty upholstery needles are quite thick and massive, making them unsuitable for delicate, small-hole seed bead or micro-jewelry projects.Ideal For:Heavy-duty leather and canvas repairs, structural craft wiring/stitching, tough upholstery fixes, or adding bold, waxed thread accents to DIY projects.

Good thick thread but NOT 4 ply and NOT waxed

This is nice thick upholstery thread but it is definitely NOT 4 ply like they brag about, and it is also NOT waxed thread. I have used waxed thread for leather work and this thread is not coated. It feels stiffer than normal and is slippery because it is made of nylon (most home sewing threads are cotton or polyester). If this thread was listed as 2 ply and uncoated I could have given it 5 stars since it is nice and strong. But since it is advertised as something that it is not, I have rated it accordingly. This thread is definitely thicker than average home sewing machine thread. I am glad that the set includes hand sewing needles with large eyes since you will need them for sure. Three of the needles in the pack have small eyes and do not fit this beefy thread: the carpet needle, and the two curved needles. The others all work great. The sail needle and the sack needle have very unique specialized profiles. This 2 ply thread unravels pretty easily. If it really had been a wax coated thread, it would not fray as badly as this thread does. You may want to melt the ends of the thread after you finish sewing with it. I noticed that my white spool has brown dye stains on the side that was touching the brown spool. Again if it was waxed, the coating should have prevented the dye transfer. I worry a bit about how hard it will be to keep the white thread clean.I have mixed feelings about this thread and needle set. It is NOT as advertised, but still seems like good heavy duty thread.

A set of heavy duty nylon threads with needles

This is an excellent set of three thick nylon thread spools with an assortment of different needles. These are heavy duty ones and are harder to come by: most threads are either thinner or thicker. Being made of nylon, they are extremely strong and wear-resistant. These threads are common in repairing upholstery, shoes, bags, leather products and anywhere where a strong connection is needed. The kit comes in three common colors: white, black and brown. This is a 2-ply intertwined thread. The ends will fray, it does help to use a lighter to melt the ends. Smallest included needle ("carpet needle) is too small for these threads (the thread is too thick for the eye). The other needles work well. I like that two curved needles are included as they are handy in many cases. The threads are very slick and glide easily. The spools came neatly wound. Great product overall.

A great set of items to prepare for potential or already necessary upholstery repair

The three thread colors make a nice, practical basic set: black, white, and brown. If push comes to shove, black or white thread can always save the day for a quick repair or an unexpected upholstery malfunction. The brown should coordinate well with a variety of upholstery and fabric colors—not just brown, but possibly greens, blues, and other earthy shades. The thread feels strong and difficult to break, while still having just a little give. It seems well suited for upholstery repairs and other projects that call for a sturdier thread. I could see using it to repair a couch pillowcase that has split at the seam, mend a puppy’s favorite toy, or fixing upholstery that has been scratched or torn by a cat - and add to that repairing dog beds. It could also be handy for small DIY projects, such as making a little canvas purse with one of my granddaughters. The assorted needles are useful for all sorts of occasions and projects. With different sizes and eye openings, it’s easier to find the right needle for the job. Young girls with little fingers can choose a needle that feels comfortable to handle, while a retired grandma wearing bifocals can look for one with an eye—no pun intended—that is easier to see and thread.Overall, this is a useful set for upholstery repairs, sturdy fabric projects, and simple DIY creations. The strong thread and assortment of needles make it a handy kit to keep nearby for planned projects and unexpected repairs alike. Even the man of the house, if he isn’t afraid to tackle a furniture repair, could find plenty of uses for these supplies.By the way, just like 'the umbrella paradox' — "carrying an umbrella seems to prevent rain; leaving it home guarantees rain", Murphy’s Preparedness Corollary says: "Anything purchased for an emergency will remain unused; anything not purchased will be urgently needed." So spending a few bucks on this item might ensure you won't need to repair furniture upholstery (at the worst possible time.)

A good value

This thread was delivered on time and very quickly. It is sturdy thread and can be used for hand stitching. With four different colored threads it’s definitely a good value for the money. The colors are vibrant and appealing. The included needles cover a variety of uses and are of good quality.I gave this item 4 stars because I wish it would have melted a little better, more in a “knob” to help lock in stitches better. But other than that preference it is a good product to add to your kit.

I ordered this 'Upholstery Repair Sewing Thread' Set from the Amazon brand IUHG. I confess I haven't bought this type of thread before so although I can give my opinion on it, I can't compare it to other brands on the market. I also didn't choose it to upholster (although not I cant stop seeing jobs that need done, somay well report back on that). Instead I have used it to repair the handle/strap on a 20 year old leather holdall. And I have to say, although my work is a little untidy compared with the professional effort, it appears strong and has saves my favourite bag for hopefully many more years to come. You don't actually get loads and loads of thread in this pack. I believe you get just over 13m of each colour. However I didnt use a metre for my repair, it's not like I'm getting the overlocker out and making myself a tent from scratch. So for my needs there is more than enough for spot repairs. One of the things I like about the set is the set of needles that comes with; you get seven large upholstry needles, the kind you never have to hand, each with a very very useful description of what its intended for. I started using the small curved needle and ended up on the bigger curved needle. Do be aware that you need to plenty of oomph in to get any needle through 3-4 layers ( in my case) of folded over leather, so it is hard work; I wanted to bigger needle as I was afriad the task would be too much for the smaller one. recommend using with thimbles an guards if necessary if you are using on heavy hides or fabrics. The thread does fray a little when cut but that was only an issue once and I used a little hint of wax to seal it for theading the needle.I think the selection of colours is probably correct, especially if bought for leather as these are the most common leather goods shades I imagine (could also use a beige!)The set overall is £5.99, imagine what it would have cost to take to the repair place to fix ( probably more than a new similar bag) so overall I'm very happy with the value, and indeed with the set in generalFive stars

Good looking and very strong thread.

I would agree with the other five star reviews. This thread is very strong and I like the way it looks.Instead of just repeating, what has already been said I will just say that if you are looking for a heavy duty thread for making or repairing items made of materials such as leather or canvas or denim I think this product will make you happy.I hope this helps. Thanks for reading.

I ordered the Upholstery Repair Sewing Thread Heavy Duty Thread Nylon Thread Leather Waxed Thread with 7 Styles Sewing Needles, Space Black because I frequently tackle repair projects around the house and wanted a stronger alternative to standard sewing thread for repairing furniture, outdoor gear, bags, canvas items, and heavier fabrics. The inclusion of waxed nylon thread and multiple needle styles made this look like a practical repair kit for demanding jobs. I ordered it through the Amazon Vine Review Program and here's my honest and unbiased thoughts about it.The Product:This repair kit includes heavy-duty waxed nylon thread in black along with 7 different sewing needle styles designed for a variety of repair and crafting applications. The thread features a wax coating intended to improve durability, reduce friction during stitching, and help create tighter, cleaner seams. The nylon construction provides high tensile strength and abrasion resistance, making it suitable for upholstery repair, leather work, canvas projects, shoe repairs, bags, wallets, outdoor equipment, and other demanding sewing tasks. The assortment of needles includes different lengths and styles, allowing users to tackle both straight-line stitching and more difficult repair areas.I first used this kit to repair a torn seam on a piece of outdoor furniture that had been exposed to weather and regular use. Right away, the difference between this thread and ordinary sewing thread was obvious. The waxed finish makes the thread easier to manage, helping prevent twisting, tangling, and fraying while sewing. The thread glides through heavy materials smoothly and feels incredibly strong when tension is applied. During my repair, I pulled firmly on several stitches to test durability and was impressed by how well the thread held up. The included needles proved equally useful, especially when working through thicker layers where standard household needles would struggle. What I liked most is the versatility. After completing the furniture repair, I used the thread on a canvas tool pouch and a small leather accessory project with equally good results. The wax coating helps produce neat-looking stitches and gives finished repairs a more professional appearance. The curved needles are particularly helpful for tight spaces and upholstery corners that would otherwise be difficult to reach. The black thread color also works well for many common repair jobs and blends nicely into darker materials. The only thing to be aware of is that the wax coating can leave a slight residue on your fingers during extended sewing sessions, but that is fairly typical of waxed repair thread and a small trade-off for the added strength and control. The Conclusion:Overall, I think this upholstery repair thread kit is an outstanding value for anyone who performs repairs on furniture, leather goods, canvas gear, shoes, bags, or heavy fabrics. The combination of heavy-duty waxed nylon thread, 7 styles of sewing needles, abrasion resistance, water resistance, strong seam retention, and excellent workability makes it a very useful addition to a repair toolbox. It feels durable, performs reliably, and provides the strength needed for projects where regular thread simply isn't enough. My rating for this product is 5 out of 5 stars. ★★★★★My Rating Guidelines:Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ (1/5) = Item wasn't as described and wasn't functional or usableRating: ★★☆☆☆ (2/5) = Item wasn't as described, had major flaws and didn't meet expectationsRating: ★★★☆☆ (3/5) = Item wasn't fully as described, had flaws and didn't meet most expectationsRating: ★★★★☆ (4/5) = Item was fully as described, had a slight flaw but met most expectationsRating: ★★★★★ (5/5) = Item was completely as described, flawless and met all expectations
